QuickTime Player for Mac, allows the playback of QuickTime movie files (.mov) and lots of other file formats including, audio, still images and graphic files. Using AirPlay Video from QuickTime Player on a MacI've noted that sometimes, OS X Plugins associate themselves with one of the text editors or code programs users have installed - these days, more often than not, Plugins associate themselves with TextMate.app, or BBEdit.app, or Apple's TextEdit.app, or Apple's Xcode.app, instead of TextWrangler.app This is an old OS X issue, well known at least back to the OS X 10.3.x "Panther" PPC days (and probably all the way back to the first OS X builds…)QuickTime Player for Mac. This appears to be an under-the-hood change designed for Mac OS X.Streaming an AirPlay Video from QuickTime Player to an AirPlay receiver works with any video that can be opened in the application, though it does require OS X El Capitan 10.11 or newer to have the feature.Looks like an interesting application. There is also Helium, a floating browser window with (customizable) translucency that allows you to watch media while you work.It now has an OS X share extension, so you can right-click, choose "Open in Helium" and start watching in a separate window without necessarily losing focus. It also has "Magical URL directs" that automatically redirect you to just the video file when you paste a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video's page.Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub.
